Viewing GPS on Front TV ?

Asking for a friend who just became a 2016 Tiffin Bus owner.

Is Viewing the dash GPS routs on the front TV a standard feature for his Bus?
He saw it on our Entegra and we tried to do it on his but no luck.

Thanks,
Pat

Our 2017 doesn't do it. I suppose it could be done, though. You would need to get a video connection up there and defeat the interlock that shuts the TV off when the ignition is on.

Last time I looked at the federal laws they still stated that if the video/tv device is in line of sight for driver they are illegal which is why the lock out devices have been used.

Personally I like my GPS right in front of me, just above my steering wheel. I'll be glad when they finally get around to making our windshields work like aircraft - everything right in front of us.

Drive safe - Richard

I will shortly replace the stock head unit with a new Sony double DIN one that mirrors my phone, nav, music, and all on the screen. (No, I won't use it for text or e-mail while under way. I am not suicidal...or homicidal.) I don't have the model number handy, I'm afraid.

My center TV came unlocked. That being said, my set up is to mirror cast my phone GPS (Waze) through chromecast, that is HDMI cable connected to the TV (input HDMI 1)

Does he have the Kenwood DNX571TR head unit? If so, he needs to set his overhead TV input source to Component and then set the head unit's AV output to Navigation. Of course if this is not the setup he has, then I can't help you. This is how my 2018 Phaeton works.

How is having a larger version of the GPS screen illegal? I can see it, if you were playing a video. It is not illegal to have a GPS app running on a tablet within view of the driver. How is this different?

So did you have to add a cable (component) to the TV? When I tried this the TV "thinks" it has no component input. I have this head unit.

No. I have an 2018 Phaeton 40 AH. The cables were already in place.

Our 2018 AP40 had the cables connected, works well. Not illegal, I don't use it much but my wife does.

I had a chance to go to the coach today and I have given some incorrect info. You set the tv input to AV not component. Also make sure AV is not in the Inactive inputs list.

Thank you for your update. I tried using the AV on my TV and WOW, WOW. The GPS map came up on the TV. I haven't had a chance to drive with this on yet, but could be good for my navigator. Thanks, again for your update.

If you have it on the TV, do you lose it on the dash? I would want to have it in both places, on the dash for me.
