Water heater issue 1985 Allegro

I am having a problem of propane regulator freezing when I am in freezing weather. Have to pour hot water over regulator to get to flow. Have changed regulator twice and problem continues. Old regulator had oil and sludge, second showed no signs of either. Any ideas?

Hot Water heater ignition problems

I have a 1985 Allegro with electronic ignition on the hot water heater. If anyone could answer the following questions it would be great.
What type of water heater comes in these models?
I do know it is a 6 gallon.
What would cause the electronic unit will not spark?
Thank you for your support
