Wayfarer Propane

Has anyone had problems with their propane system? I have a 2021, less than 3 months old, and have no working propane. Tank is at 80% full on both gauges and the stove will light sometimes for 2 seconds and quit. I have turned the tank off multiple times, let it sit, and turned it on slowly and the same problem. I disconnected the outlet hose from the regulator and nothing seems to be coming out. Any suggestions before I abandon my vacation trip?

Is the propane working for any appliances (water heater, furnace)?

For our stove (I donít know if yours is the same as our 2019), you need to push the gas knob in while pressing the igniter button. Once the burner lights, the gas knob must be held down for about 5 seconds or the flame goes out. This is for safety; if the thermocouple doesnít sense a flame, it shuts off the gas. Maybe you just need to hold the knob down longer?

Your regulator is stuck shut. Find the local propane company and see if you can swing by and have them check, adjust or replace it. It is supposed to close in the event of a sudden surge like a line breaking. They fail sometimes and need to be replaced. Doesn't matter that it is 3 months old, new parts fail too.

Yes, The fix is close the valve, take the coach out for a drive. stop a long the way and ever so slowly open the valve. If still nothing repeat. It will eventually open. Mine took about 5 days. Since that time it has worked ok but the key is opening it at a snails pace. I think personally it will not happen to often after the valve breaks in. But for now I keep mine open.

Apparently when the gas hits the valve to quick it slams shut and then it has to equalize over time.

This was confirmed by Tiffin. I went to the Tiffin service center in AL for some other issues and this was one of them. I think we will see more of this as this series of valves hits the market. Basically the safety feature of the valve is doing its job, a little to well.

They had this issue they changed out a tank for one client same issue. Seems to only be affecting new units for the most part. But I have heard of this issue across all lines of RV's if the valve is opened to quickly.

Changing out the valve won't fix it. I mean it could but it could also happen again.
