What adhesive to use?

On my Red 33AA, the entry door has a plastic trim piece coming loose from the door lock down (see photo). I am wondering if I should just glue it down, but looking under the strip, I do not see any residue from an adhesive . Would using clear RTV possibly be a better solution?

Clear RTV would be my choice. Doesn't look like it would need to be removed anytime in the future.

to me it almost looks like that small ridge running parallel to the edge is supposed to lock underneath the mating edge. It looks to me that this is a press fit assembly piece.

If that's the case, then put some mild adhesive on the surface of that ridge and then push it back into the door seam. If that doesn't hold it, try some stronger adhesive. 3M makes many different strength of adhesives out there. You can also use silicone sealant but it could get real messy.

... don't think you should use any adhesive (avoid more problems when repairs may be required to door / lock).

Not sure, but it looks like the u shaped plastic moulding that fits around the inside door finish panel is broken. Probably better to improvise with a new moulding over existing or possibly there is a way to remove the inside door panel facing & replace u shaped edge trim.

Have attached a photo of our door trim near the lock.

Good luck

It actually looks like there is an adhesive ooze from the top of the strip in your photo. Am I not seeing this correctly?

It appears the plastic trim piece is either broken or was intentionally relieved to not interfere with whatever is behind the round plastic hole plug.
You can probably figure which by inspecting the edge... wad it cut or broken?
I would NOT use RTV. Silicone is a poor adhesive and once used NOTHING will stick to that spot... not even more silicone.
Perhaps a different adhesive meant for auto body trim would help if necessary.

Okay - got an answer back from Tiffin today (couple of hours after I sent it) telling me how to resolve. Here is the solution”
“ Hello, that trim just snaps in place. You can add electrical tape long ways on the trim and that will make it fit tighter in the groove it snaps into or you can add a little bit of clear silicone on the trim and the snap it in place and take painter tape to hold it in place till the silicone dries”.
Hopefully, this helps others.
