What Brand RV Water Softener
Planning a trip to Arizona next winter and have heard we will need an RV water softener. Recommendations? Ease of use, effectiveness, etc.
Thanks for any info. We have a 2018 Allegro Bus.

I have an On the Go and it works fine, just wish I had bought the big one. Only reason is that I am lazy and would like to go longer that a week before having to treat it.

The smallest you should use is the On-The-Go Double. Use one for 10 years and not issues.

Every so often, Home Depot will have their water softener systems on sale on their daily specials. I just purchased one. Will install it this week. It was the best deal I could find. I just waited until it went on sale, then made the purchase.

We have On The Go large water softener, plumbed into our water line. It is located right next to our Aquahot, also had easy quick disconnects used to make the removing and flushing easier.

I forgot to mention that we use a whole-house 5-micron sediment filter and a carbon block filter prior to the On-The-Go softener. The water softener is a great filter and keeping the junk out of the softener reduces the need to reverse flush the softeners as often.

I have an On The Go Double Standard and it’s been great. Easy to use and recharge. Says it’s 16,000 grain and will last 600-1600 gallons depending on hardness. I was just in AZ for a month down in Yuma and put 300 gallons through it with very little Total Hardness change. Agree that you should have a sediment filter prior to the softener and at least a 5 micron as the house filter.

You might want to check out what they use in the boating world. Some examples are at YachtMate.com. We are in AZ now and the water tastes good, but spots are an issue. It's very "hard".

I use the same started using it last summer after a few years of dealing with Hardwater at several campgrounds during our summer swing back to New England. I usually only use it if I'm staying at a CG more than a few days.

We use Watts Rv Pro 1000. Easy to recharge. Fits nicely in higher bays installed, or use it next to the water source.

Regardless of which water softener you purchase they are not a "file and forget" device. They must be recharged when ever the resin in the water softener has adsorbed as many "hardness" ions that it capacity for. This means that you will need to check the harness of the treated water periodically to unsure optimum performance of the softener.
with that in mind choose a model that best fits your usage and convenience to recharge

Scale Inhibition Water Treatment
I didn't want to be bothered with carrying and recharging a water softener, and also don't like the slimy feeling that I get with soft water; it feels like I can't get the soap rinsed off; so, after doing some research I settled on this...

We just spent 1 1/2 months in Arizona and used this. In my opinion it worked great. Easy to carry and connect/disconnect.
