What Color Is Your DEF Gauge?

In my 2011 Phaeton (Freightliner) my DEF gauge is made up of 4 indicator lamps arranged directly under the fuel gauge.

The leftmost lamp is bright green, the remaining 3 are light green; it is as if they are not lit.

So I assume I have 1/4 tank of DEF. But I'm not so sure that the left most lamp isn't just greener than the others.

i tried looking in the tank with a flash light, used a light scope, and tried measuring with a dip stick. It seems that is not full, but is difficult to actually tell from a visual check.

I know the left most LED will turn amber when it is real low. I'm just wondering what others are seeing.

Thanks.

The very same. Mine is new and I am at Lazy Days now. I will have to ask about it.

Same here. I would assume that the lights would go off as the DEF reduces

I bought some DEF yesterday and rechecked the gauge. I only put in one gallon and it seemed pretty full. So I made a dip stick and checked and the tank was full.

I watched the gauge lights upon start up I noticed they blink - all green, then the left most goes green, yellow and red; then they all come on although the left most is still brighter than the others.

I've decided that the left most is a different color because it also displays other colors too.

Thanks for the feed back.

oh DEF cost $7.99 a gallon at the local Auto Zone store.

OH, red and green LED's. Boy I would be in trouble. They all look the same, being color blind.

Mine are all showing a light aqua marine blue/green. So far I've not let it get lower than one 1/4 down. The light to the far right goes off.

$7.99 a gallon. Hmmm, that's no bargin. I've purchased two 2.5 gallon containers so far, one last November and the second last week. The first cost me $14, the second cost me just under $12 (about $4.80 per gallon). Both of these were purchased at a station that sold diesel fuel, 1000 miles apart. I've read here that some of the larger diesel outlets are putting DEF pumps on their fuel islands, with prices ranging from $2 to $3 per gallon.
