WINDOW MECHANISM BROKEN 2018 Allegro Bus
First post but been viewing for a while and gained a lot of good info. Bought a 2018 Allegro Bus 40SP and have an issue with a sliding window in the passenger slideout. The lever (trigger?) to open the window seems broken as there is no tension on it like the other windows. These windows you pull the trigger down, pull the handle inward then slide open the window. Not sure who manufactures them or the fix but sure I am not the first to have the issue. Thoughts/recommendations for how to fix and where to get parts is appreciated.

We have had to replace several over the last few years. In my opinion, bad design, too thin of material on the moving parts. Tiffin store has them and we keep an extra on hand. Easy replacement, just a few screws.

I've had to have a couple replaced. The last time I had a problem with one it turned out the pull had slipped out of the lever and it was just a matter of popping it back in. Replacements are available from the Tiffin parts store for about $2.50 each. The part number is 5028925 and they look like below. In the mean time, you can pop the plastic cover off and use the finger pull on the latch itself to open the window.

Thanks LT Dan. I got the window apart and both top and bottom rods have broken right below where they join to the latch (on the latch part of the rod). It looks like the replacement comes with the new pin so just need to remove the old pin pop the new one in and back in business. I ordered a couple spares just in case.
Thanks again

Window Latches
How to open a stuck window
I have a 2017 Tiffin Allegro Bus and the windows are very tight and stiff to operate. There is a small plastic pin that is used to “pull” the lock when the window is closed and locked. On my rig these pins break or come off and the window will not open. I have learned that the thin plastic cover, running from the top to bottom in the window center, over the latch and center lock release knob, may be easily pried off at the top and bottom. It cannot be removed since it runs behind the center knob and under the handle used to normally open the window. This reveals the two sliders, one at the top and one at the bottom. These sliders may be operated manually… slide both the top and bottom towards the window center to “pull” the locks out of their slots, freeing the window. The window should now pull inwards and you can slide the window sideways to open, as usual.
How to replace a window latch
Once the window is open, you can access the two screws that hold on the window handle. Remove the screws and handle and put aside until later. After the handle has been removed you can easily remove the thin plastic cover that was captured under the handle. Now the latch can be removed using the two screws holding it to the window frame. Note that each slider also has 2 screws holding them onto the latch. No need to remove the sliders.
You will notice the two rods connecting the center knob to each slider. More than likely one of the rods will not be connected. The plastic pin on the slider arm normally goes through a hole in the rod and has a “mushroom” head to secure the pin in the hole. The pin may be broken, or the “mushroom” head on the pin may be broken off, allowing the pin to slip out of the hole. In either case, the knob will fail to “pull” the lock out of the slot making the window impossible to open.
A new latch may be installed by reversing this procedure. I recommend using silicon spray on the sliders and window tracks both top and bottom to ease the window operation. Any rough places may be smoothed using a file. Once repaired use care when opening or shutting each window.

We have breaks in the rods above the latch assembly. Any idea where I can get that?

If you are talking about the thin plastic pull rod above the latch assembly, the only option is to replace it. Refer to post #3 above for the part number.

Tiffin manufactures their own windows.

Window latch broken!
How can I remove the broken plastic rod from the center point of my sliding windows? I have removed the handle. The cover guard has been removed. The latch has been removed. Now I have to remove the broken arm piece.
Thank you
