WineGard connect using phone as a hot spot

I have several questions.
We have a 2019 Open Road PA 34 it has a Winegard connect 4G1 signal booster, used to increase a RV’s park wifi. Has anybody used their cell phone / tablet as a hot spot instead? I have connected the Winegard connect to my home wifi and been able to stream Netflix’s, but while boon docking. I have not been able to use my cell phone / tablet as a hot spot. When I scan for a wifi signal it doesn’t even show my cell / tablet as being a choice. They both have been turned on to be a hot spot. Any ideas?

Second, in the bedroom the ceiling fan even on high does not seem to move any air, in either direction. It has been posted elsewhere that sometimes the blades have been at alternating angles on their fan. This is not the case here. HAs anyone tried to increase the pitch? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have any specific experience with that Winegard system, but, for some reason, my Roku's don't see my phone hotspots the first time they scan. Have you scanned a couple of times to see if the hotspot shows up on a subsequent scan.

FWIW I have found it much more difficult to use my wife's iPhone as a hotspot compared to my Android phone.

Have you check to see if the fan is rotating in the correct direction? There is a switch on the side of the fan housing that reverses it. The 12v fan doesn't move a lot of air but it does push some. We have to have a table fan in addition to the ceiling fan.

I have scanned several time with no luck. We only have iPhones so I do not know if an android would make any difference.

On the fan issue, we have tried both directions and both speeds, with not much of a difference.

On the fan issue, I did bend the pitch a little. Sort of scary to bend things hoping they don’t break off in your hands but your only bending the metal part down near the fan base a little. It helped some.

I have a feather Indian dream catcher hanging over my head attached to the knob on the overhead cabinet and I can see that it moves as the fan is operating in both directions. I think with the blades so close to the ceiling it just isn’t going to move a lot of air.

Where it really seemed to help is the temp sensor is right there on the ceiling and on a hot day you can get some wonky temps at that sensor in the bedroom. Turning on the fan seems to even out the temp at the sensor with the general temp in the room.

What really helped the most in that regard was stuffing a washcloth in the last air duct in the living room/kitchen. Now the coach temps are quite level without the bedroom being an ice box and the living room being quite warmer.

On the iPhones I assume you have done both of these steps:

1. Turned on the hotspot
2. Enabled the "let others share this connection" switch

You've probably done both, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Coincidentally, we also have a 2019 Open Road PA 34. We have the Winegard ConnecT 2.0 4G LTE + WIFI Extender mounted on our roof. We also have been unable to connect our Winegard to either of our Android phones with hotspots enabled. Each phones wifi is visible to everything (our laptops, iPad, etc.) but our Winegard. I called Winegard and the tech support told me it was because our phone hotspots were to close to the Winegard on the roof. He suggested I put them outside at a greater distance than directly below the Winegard inside the coach. He suggested inside our Toad. I tried that with him on the phone. It did not work even with scanning multiple times.

Following this thread hoping for someone with the magic answer.

Try pulling the fan blade tips down an inch or two. These fans are really installed too close to the ceiling and can't get air in easily to blow it down.

FWIW - The manager at my AT&T store told me to use a Samsung phone if you want a great hotspot from your phone.

He recommends the iphone for other things, but being a "hotspot" is not one of the strengths of the iphone.

I would suggest deleting your second question and putting it into another Post. It's really tough to get great advice to two completely different questions that are in a single post.

Our 2018 36LA has the Winegard and find it useful. One advantage is that once you have all your devices signing on to the Winegard, you only have to sign on the Winegard to the local wi-fi and all your devices are on-line. We have successfully used an Iphone 6S as a hot spot and the Winegard found it easily with the Iphone on the dash. The same with a hotspot loaned by the campground. One issue we had is that all the Winegards appear to have the same id and if another rv close by is on yours won't function. A call to them revealed that the id (as well as the name and password) is easily changed to any digits you like in the settings. You get to the Winegard by entering its id into the URL field of your browser.

I recently started using Visible as a replacement for my TOGO plan. The TOGO easily connects to my Visible ZTE Blade a7 hotspot. I average around 10mb down and 5mb up with two bars showing on the phone. TOGO is the "one" connection allowed by Visible but several devices are actually connected to the TOGO.
