Question Winterizing 34TGA (2013)

I'll start out by saying the owners manual is misleading. The water pump (Page 13-33 picture) isn't there it is on the other side of the MH sandwiched between the fresh water tank and wall. Located so high up that you can not connect the vinyl hose to the pump inlet connection to draw the antifreeze into the pump with out some modifications. Makes me wonder if the people who design these RV's actual own one and travel with them. ( Mount pump for easy access for cleaning strainer, maintenance and service.) This is from SHURflo, the manufacturer.
Now I will get to the question I have about the pump plumbing. The hose connected to the holding tank that feeds the pump has a "T" in it. One line feeds the pump and the other disappears over the top of the tank to ???. This may be the by-pass from the adjustable diaphragm that regulates pressure and if so where is that located.

If you have a mobile rv repair guy near you, for a hour of labor he can probably do the first winterization and you can watch him do it then do it yourself in the future. I would think you should have a water heater by pass lever and if you drain fresh water tank and then buy a pump to pump rv/marine antifreezer thru city water system. Dave

ps drain hot water tank

Winterizing

I have winterized many RV's in the 50+ years that I have been RVing. Before "RV" antifreeze I used cheap booze. I didn't mean to imply that I couldn't do the job, it's just that why can't they make the manuals accurate and in the case of my pump location, just use some forethought in placing the pump.
I sure many RVer's have said to the manufacturer "why did they do that".

I agree, the manuals supplied with the new MHs are usually outdated and confusing so say the least....half the stuff the manuals show where things are is wrong...sad.....
I depend on this network and the Tiffinrvnetwork for most of my information....

I like Oliver's way of winterizing . . . . With cheap booze! It could make the de-winterizing process in the Spring much more fun. 😋

The cheap booze trick worked well then, not so now. In the '60's Four Roses was $6.00 a quart and it took much longer to winterize, no fault of the RV.
