07 Fleetwood Rev LE

Hi all. New to the forum and the RV lifestyle. Have done a lot of reading on here and hopefully soon make an RV purchase.

We are looking at an 07 revolution 40E with the C9 cat, 400hp engine. Is this an acert engine that needs to regen every so often? Do they give much trouble?

This unit has 23,000 miles and in very good shape. Guy selling it says Spartan frame is as good or better than freight liner frame.

Thanks in advance

I don't believe your Cat regenerates, my 03 Cat did not. I believe, not an expert that the newer Cummins with new emission DEF regen. My ISL does but not that often, the light comes on twenty minutes later, done. I have had both FL and Spartan both very good chassis manufacturers with equally great customer service. I lean toward Spartan. Congratulations on your new Rev.

I believe there were some EPA/emissions changes that went into effect starting in '07. I'm sorry though, I can't tell you with any greater certainty.

Bottom line, the regen is typically automatic, and a non-event. Ours will do one occasionally and a message will light up on the dash letting me know one is in progress. It's important to be aware as the exhaust temps can run to the extreme during a regen, up to 1500 degrees, if the owner's manual is to be believed. It will typically last about 20 minutes.

I am sure you will enjoy your new-to-you coach. We looked at a couple of Revolutions when we were shopping for our current rig. They are nice.

We have the '07 Cummins with the DPF that requires periodic regeneration. Haven't noticed anything odd about it.

Not sure how CAT dealt with the newer emissions standards other than to make a decision to exit the over-the-road engine market in subsequent years.

My 07 Rev has a 2006 c-9 pre acert you can you the serial # with manufacture date plainly from the rear. As previous post acert didn't start till 2007. Spartan is a great chassis with out getting into a chassis war.

Thanks for all the replies. This coach is one we both really liked. Not sure if we will get this one or something else. Sure is fun looking at all the different models and floor plans.

Update on the C9 cat: Coach is a 2007, built late 2006, so has the 8.8L C9 cat. This is not an ACERT engine, pre emission. Should be less trouble than a regen engine.

So far this is the nicest coach we looked at

IMO, better combination with the Cat than a Cat transmission. All sounds like you are in for some thrills. Good Luck! Bill

Mjay,
Great coach, we love ours. Know what to pay, based on condition service records and such. Expect to spend a few grand after purchase on needed maintenance and such. For example, you need to service the transmission, PO likely didnt do yet. You also need new tires if yours are original, regardless of miles or wear.

If you are comfortable talking price, I would expect you can get that rig for under about 100K.

It is great NOT having an acert engine, and among other things, why that vintage is a great choice. Got any questions there are quite a few rev owners on here! I don't think there is any remarkable difference between my 05 and an 07, so I can help answer questions.

Chris

Well we made a deal on this rig, love it so far. Drove it home in a strong wind, and handles very nice. Lots to learn, but I know there is some very knowledgeable people on this forum.
