We had a 1985 Southwind for many years. The shore power cable has to be plugged in to the receptical in the generator compartment. If it is plugged in, I would suspect the breakers on the generator.

Older motorhomes like this did not have transfer switches. You need to plug the shore power cord into the receptacle for the gen set. That should fix you right up!

This. I had a 1984 Southwind. In mine, there was a receptical in the compartment where the electrical cable comes out on the side of the bay. Just look inside there and plug in the cable just as if that was the camp pedestal. In fact, I was in the habit of always plugging it in there if it wasn't plugged into shore power and storing it that way.
