1992 Fleetwood Coronado fuel gauge issue

Greetings,
I have a 1992 Fleetwood Coronado and have an issue with the fuel gauge not working and is at empty. I had filled the tank last fall with the hopes that the gauge would work and counting on a float in the tank. I have been told that if I unplug the wires to the sensor and jump them and if the gauge works the
problem will be at the gas tank. I have not been able to locate the wires going to the tank and have yet to locate the sensor on the tank. I presume everything is on top of the tank and I will have to drop the tank to change out whatever reads the fuel level. I would have like to preform the gauge test first and eliminate that end before I go aft. Any thoughts will be welcome.

You could disconnect the wires behind the gauge on the dash and perform the same test as testing at the sender.

Also check the connections on the tank if you can. My old 87 Allegro we had to replace the sending unit.
