1994 Fleetwood Coronado Owners

any other owners out there?

just purchased one and have a few probs/questions.

need to hook up a trailer brake controller and was wondering if there was a quick plug connector up front?

rear exterior lights went out on the way home. check the wiring a couple days ago and its dead at the rear connector. theres a break in there somewhere so just gonna rewire from front connector to rear connector.

onan gen starts up at the rear but the dash start is not working. check the switch and it makes contact but is not sending the signal to gen to start.

think thats about all i need to get fixed before the spring and was just wondering if any of you guys ran into similar probs and had simple fixes.

any electrical schematics available?

btw....its the gm chasis with 454

thanks for any help and advise you can give to this newbie

Hi there!

I have a 1992 Fleetwood Coronado. Don't see them much anymore, even though they're solid, no nonsense RVs that are relatively easy to maintain.

Regarding your remote gen switch not starting the generator, have you tried pressing down the engine's "aux start" switch then pressing the remote gen switch at same time? If the generator starts that way then you'll know the remote switch is fine, and in most likelihood the wiring and connections are alright as well.

I had the same exact problem three years ago. After tracing & checking all wires & connections, and making sure had enough gas in the tank, I remotely started the generator by also pressing the "aux on" switch. That told me the problem was with the chassis battery -- it didn't have enough juice, on its own, to start the gen. In my case, a new chassis battery fixed the problem. So you might want to check your battery if you can remotely start the gen by pressing the "aux on" switch at same time.

I haven't found specific wiring diagrams, but I was lucky to obtain the huge two-volume factory manual for my 1992 Coronado -- when I bought the RV the seller included them in the sale. If you look online you might be able to find your year on eBay, or someplace similar.

Good luck, and nice hearing (finally!) from another Coronado owner! :-)

Sorry you're still having trouble starting the gen remotely. Have you checked the wires, switch, and cleaned connections?

About trailer hookup, mine doesn't have one. I also do not have an inverter.

Good luck. Keep us posted. Sorry can't be of more help.

OK.....made a new harness from front plug to rear. Everything is working but reverse lights now....still gotta check that out. Also found my onan PC board is fried right where the start connection is made on board. So gonna see if it can be repaired or have to buy a new one.

Next project is trailer brake controller install. Still didn't notice quick plug foe controller. If not gonna have to run blue wire from the controller all the way to the connecter. That'll suck..... :(

I know this thread is a bit old, but we are now the new owners of a 1994 Fleetwood Coronado. Need some tips on the rundown of controls etc. Can't get out hands on a manual so far, have a few feelers help me out but your experience would be huge. Anyone in the south jersey area that would consider a runthrough? Our location or yours. We have figured a lot out on our own but still some unanswered questions.

I'm in California so unfortunately can't meet up in person. But if you post your questions we might be able to offer some assistance.

Thanks for all the replies. We are getting somewhere now. Today roof repairs and power step. Hoping just disconnected to prevent battery drain;thoughts?

Nem, thanks. Maybe being newbies of the same unit will help us both. Finally found a parts dealer nearby to help with chasis parts. Good luck on gen. Ours works but not running anything, any ideas there? Hubbiehad to free up govenor and do some minor repairs. Sounds like a giant lawn mower. Cracks me up.
