What's the secret to opening this plug. The rep for Onan near me will only tell me bring it in they will look at it. I'm very capable of changing the oil and filter if I can figure how to open the drain. It sure looks simple enough 2 little tabs that stick out. I figure lefty loosy righty tighty. But it just won't move. I finally sucked the oil out this time. Also I'm told the Fram replacement for the Onan filter is a TG 3614.

I change mine at least once a year. No problem, As you said "Lefty Loosey". It's not easy to get to but yours is probably just stuck. I assume it's the first time you have tried to do it. The last joker probably just torked it real good.

I'll tell you what I retired with 45 years in Maintenance from the same company. Overhaul my first car when I was 15 years old. Do all my own oil changes, filter, grease, and tune-ups. I just thought that there was some secret method, and Onan is no help. But it never ceases to amaze me what you run into today. I think this guy must have used JB Weld on it. I can get a standard size set of Channel Locks on it but can't budge it. I even took a brass rod and tapped on it thinking maybe that would get it loose, sprayed it PB Blaster. I figured that you turn it to the left and it would start to drain. I would have guys at work. "Can I ask a stupid question"? And I would tell them I would rather answer your stupid question. Than have to show you later how to fix it. And this forum is such a great place to have those questions answered

Had same luck with my GBM and ended up machining an old 3/8 drive socket to accept the outlet tube and with a pair of slots to engage the pins an extension and ratchet handle completes the set-up.Good luck.
