1999 Bounder Awning Problem

Today is the first time I tried to extend the awning on our new to us 99' Bounder. I loosened the black knobs on the back of the main arms, released the travel lock on each arm, and pulled the catch at the top right.

I had to manually pull the awning out a little to get to the strap. Once the wife had the pull rod tied to the strap she could not pull the awning out.

I tugged a little harder and the strap broke.

Now I am not sure how to extend the awning and lock it in place.

Should it lock it self in place as you pull it out with the strap?

Help.

Did you?

There is a lever on the end of the roller, maybe one at each end? Did you flip it down?

Make sure the lever on the top right side of the awning is in the facing down position. Also remember to lift each side of the awning up and off the the hanging brackets located on the end of the roof. You may have to go up on the roof and carefully push each end of the rolled awning out enough to get it started and them come down and Finnish it. When the awning is rolled all the way out you will then have to extend the support arms up to raise the whole works above you head. Finally you have to lock the support arms in place. It sounds complicated but you will get use to it.

I did flip the lever down.

I will try to lift each side and see if it mounts on a bracket.

I tried to pull the awning out by the main arms but could not get it to extend.

Will try it again tomorrow.
