2000 Discovery Which one is chassis battery?

2000 Fleetwood Discovery 37G. Cummins 5.9 Diesel.

Went out the last two days and tried to start the coach.....click. Used the battery jump rocker on the console and coach started. I ran it a while and also ran the generator to recharge. Checked all battery's for water -all good. Connections are all tight and clean. When the engine was running battery gauge said about 13, however I did at one point get a "BATTERY" light on the dash. ....trans would not shift into gear due to low voltage.....

I want to rule out a shorted battery..... Just returned from Mass. three days ago and 750 miles without a single issue. Now....chassis battery is dead. Nothing left on.......

I have a total of 6 batteries. Two on a top shelf, and four golf cart batteries on the bottom shelf. Not sure which are house and which are chassis. Does anyone have a model like mine that can help? Thanks in advance

4 golf car batteries will be the house batteries.

They are deep cycle and generally not used for starting the main engine.

On the 2000 Discovery, the two on the top shelf are your starting batteries.

You can check them with a multi-meter to get a voltage reading.

The golf cart 6 volt batteries are the house batteries and the 2 12 Volt on the shelf are your engine start batteries. If that helps.

What does you alternator gauge read, should be close to 14? If chassis batteries where dead it could take several hours to charge.
