Question 2002 Fleetwood Bounder 39Z fault code 0222

Engine check light stays on. Rush Truck center diagnosed engine fault code 0222 (something to do with air pressure from elevation) but could not clear this code. Any issues with continuing to drive or possible fixes. Thanks for any assistance.

Welcome to iRV2.

CEL comes in stages ; 1. CEL light on fault detected . 2.CEL light flashing major fault detected. 3 . CEL flashing & stop engine light on power de-rates to 30% to get you off the highway .

Now these are for diesel pushers , mentioning your chassis and engine will get you the best answers when asking questions .

Thanks for the info, I'm hoping that in 2002 a 300 hp Cummins would be a ISB 24 valve engine with a VP-44 Injection pump . I'll see if I can dig up any further info on that code and what, if anything, could be a reason for it not to reset .

In some years both the ISB 5.9l and the ISC 8.3l Cummins engines came in a 300 hp version . So before you need any parts , it would be good to identify the engine size not just the HP rating .

Code 0222 comes up as -Ambient air pressure circuit shorted low .

Did the shop say you needed to replace the ; ambient air pressure sensor ; or offer any guidance .
The Cummins ECM would be monitoring the circuit , full time , so erasing would only be MOMENTARY and it'd reset before the scan tool was removed . Probably before you could blink.

ISB engine. The shop gave me no suggestions on what to do. Any idea where that sensor is and where to get a new one, or how to test further.

Working on it , just about all the info; online; on the 2002 ISB involves the Dodge /Cummins version , that apparently didn't use it .
I have reference to the sensor in the ECM pinout , but that doesn't locate it .

Finding diagnostics .

Apparently the engine will run for a long time before it de-rates power .

Having issues finding the location on your year of the ISB . When the fuel system changed to HPCR the sensor was moved internal to the ECM.

Seems others have had issues finding the sensor over the years too.
