American Coach: 2004 eagle moving shelf by the passenger seat

I have a new problem. The ram for the platform that covers the steps when extended seems very little and bends when it extends out. Such a small shaft. Is there a bigger one that will hold that shelf better. Does anyone have a schematic of this ram setup or drawing of it for reference Thanks John

Odd. My '04 Tradition step cover was rock solid. Mine used an air ram, whereas I think the Eagle was hydraulically operated off the generator power slide. The step cover itself rode in grooves on either side of the step well, so it was fully supported. Is yours not designed that way?

Mine is a air ram it is just very small in diameter and it doesn't go straight. I think someone put something small in there.

I had an issue with ours as well, wouldn't always fully extend and needed a push other times to retract back. Removed the ram and found the shaft was bent, agree with OP that is a tad wimpy for size. Anyway, trued it back up straight and reinstalled. Works like a hot damn now.
