UPDATE:

Greetings iRV2,

It's been a bit since I reported any progress so I think I'd drop a line.

As of today the following items now work as intended.

LP system works as intended. Rather than fixing the issue the Previous Owner just bypassed things. 5$ emergency shut off switch in the back was the issue.

Tank/LP/BATT Volt readout now works. Simple fuse
Chassis Battery Shutoff now works. Although its comes on when you turn the ignition on if its in the off setting. Not sure this is normal?

Door way Awning now works. Another fuse.

The one issue that is really having me scratch my head is the Thermostat. No power to it. This too was bypassed. When I pulled it the main 12v wire was cut and piggy backed to another power wire behind it. I've got it back to the way it was but still now power. Fuse checks at the panel. Not really sure where to look from there?

For now that is it.

Thanks for reading

Cheers

Nem

Glad to hear you've made some significant progress. I've never had to deal with thermostat power issues so can't be of much help since you've already checked the fuses.

Good luck and let us know what you end up finding!

I'd say today was a very successful day. While I didn't get the thermostat to work I did get a lot of insight on how the ceiling wiring goes. There are two switches reaming that I need to track down... otherwise we are making good progress.

Pictures to folllow

Cheers

UPDATE:

Good morning iRV2,

Yesterday afternoon was quite successful. I did learn of a faulty chassis to coach plug and it did allow me to resolve a few issues I've been looking at.

The attached image is of a large plug on the pass side Gen bay. I traced the power supply from the Thermostat to this plug. Power was going in, but not going out. It's responsible for providing power to the Thermostat as well as the 50 AMP Smart EMS monitor. Clearly evident that water got into this plug and corroded some of the connectors to the point they vanished.

Having an issue locating this type of plug to replace it with but I'll end up making my own water proof plugs.

By-passing this plug allowed me to successfully test the Front AC/Heat Pump as well as the front gas furnace. Both worked as intended. Curious what else will work when this is fixed?

My Thermostat wont switch to ZONE 2 but I believe that is because the Rear AC is missing the control box (on order) and isn't connected at this time.

I've completely removed the previously owners crappy ceiling design and have also labeled all the connections through out the motorhome. No mystery harness or connections or light switches of unknown left!

Hoping with the weather change I'll be able to get a number of things finished this weekend and begin looking at the style of ceiling we want to put in. It wont be OEM but it'll be nice.

Also got to think about the roof as well. Its completely shot and was repaired very poorly. View images with an open mind! LOL I also am completely aware that I will have my hands full with this ceiling. Especially the AC ducting as I have no idea what was used OEM.

Still have to address the electric levelers that failed on our drive from VA. That one eludes me. It powers on but begins to work then errors out.

I also learned I have an air leak somewhere as unless the engine is running the air bags wont stay inflated. That will be for a different day.

Anyhow thanks for looking

Cheers,

Nem

Nem, Looks like you are getting there. You have a lot of talent just to attempt these interior repairs. That will be a very nice coach when you get through with the repairs. Thanks for the updates. I love watching.

Thank you Ron,

Its been a blast so far. Especially when I fix an issue and things begin to work. Just gotta wrap my head around my shore power issues. Got a differently thread for that one so I wont double post but it is on the list of "needing attention".

Hoping this week I'll have the ceiling harness ran and placed where they will be permanently. Then we can start visualizing the ceiling.

Also need to figure out what I am going to do for AC ducting. Nothing was present as it was previously removed.

Slow and steady!

Cheers

Nice job tracking that faulty plug down!! You say it's located in the generator bay on the passenger side? I should probably make an attempt to find mine, just in case I have issues in the future. Is that some type of in-line plug, or was it on a bulkhead?

Good luck with that interior!! Looks like a lot of work, but will be worth it when it's done!

Hey RK,

If you're facing the Generator it'll be on your left side real close to the Air line connection (if you have one) There are two of these plugs coming out of the harness. Not sure what the other plug supports but when I disconnected it looked in great shape so I left it. This harness travels up to just behind the passenger interior plastic cover on what I'd call the A pillar of a car. LOL... hope that makes sense.

This harness goes into what I am calling the read out panel where the battery switches, tank level meter, EMS readout, Leveler and thermostat are located.

So far the plug in question supports the AC/Heat Pumps, Gas Furnace and EMS Volt readout.

I'll try and remember to take photos this afternoon so show you.

Cheers

Progress and a minor set back

Thank you Rich! I've learned over the years that positivity and patience are a great pair. As soon as I lose one or the other I break things or mess things up.

Today, while not the sunny day I had hoped for; but it was a good day.

Finally got the Remote for the new Go Power Inverted installed. Was dreading running the cable but it went smoother than expected. Also got the new batt temp sensor installed. Officially the Inverter/Charger is 100% installed and working as intended!

Also received by new AC control box. Hope I got the correct one because with it installed and connected the Thermostat still doesn't recognized zone 2. Any thoughts on why that might be and what I might be missing?

Now onto the minor set back!

While running the Inverter/Charger remote cable I kept hearing a quite hissing sound. Couldn't quite place it... had loud music playing. When I got to the air tanks and actually could feel air on my face. Grabbed a light and sure enough the fitting out of the pass side tank is cracked! Now I know why may air bags don't stay inflated.

Simple fix and if I am up to it I'll tackle that tomorrow.

RK the first images are for you. I am calling this the HVAC harness

The repair will be temporary till I can get new pins for the plug. Should suffice during the build.

Quick shot of the new Remote doing its thing and the new AC Control. The only difference between this one and the one installed at the front AC is this one has two SIG terminals.

Also the cracked air fitting. Weird right!

AC Zone Dilemma!

Good morning iRV2,

So I think I learned why I am having zone connection issues from the Thermostat.

The front AC (zone 1) is a Mach 3 coleman.
The rear AC (zone 2) is a Mach 15 coleman.

I believe that these units require different control boxes and Thermostat.

While I am unable to confirm this 100% what I have learned is the Mach 15 uses a completely different Thermostat then the Mach 3 as well as control box.

I'll continue my research but anyone with more info on how these AC units work would be greatly appreciated.

For what its worth, zone 1, AC 1 works as long as the signal isn't connected to the control box for zone 2. When this happens the Thermostat freezes.

Oddly I can't get the new Control Box to work with AC-1 in zone 1 either but I may not be giving it time to connect.

Anyhow, started pouring again and I don't feel like being out. So, getting into research mode.

Thanks in advance,

UPDATE:

Good and bad news. I got a message this morning back from Coleman and in order to get my zones working correctly I need to do a few things.

Since the Rear AC was replaced with a newer Mach 15 AC the OEM control box was removed. That is the missing link.

Unfortnately that model of Control Box isn't avaiable and Coleman doesn't offer a replacement for it. Just an upgrade with requires a new Thermostat as well.

Unless I can find the OEM control box I am looking at replacing the AC system. BLAH.

I believe the Control Box I am looking for is 8530D751. Haven't had any luck finding one.

Anyone got one lying around

Thanks Nem! Now I know what to look for. I do have a compressed air fitting in that general area so I'm guessing I'll have similar HVAC wiring in that area too.....it's right below the location of my thermostat, so that would make sense. It's raining down here again so I probably won't go check it out until later this week.

I also have a small air leak somewhere, but I haven't been able to track it down yet.

I haven't had any issues with the thermostat yet, (knocking on wood), so no experience with that, but have had both A/C units replaced in the last couple years with no issues.

Good luck, and keep the updates coming!

Randy
