My Kwikee steps came out after winter storage but unwillingly. They groaned and then stopped working. Ive checked the interior fusebox in the kitchen and under the hood but no luck. Is it there in that rats nest under the steering wheel that only really tiny people or circus performers can access?

Thanks in advance rB

You should have a BCC ( battery control center ) . It's a black box approximately a 14" square. That fuse should be there. Mine was in the first basement compartment on passenger side on my 08 Bounder.

Right you are!

Thanks a million Cliff. I appreciate the schematic too! Didnt think to look there as thats my water filtration area and not often accessed except as straight storage. I'll be sure to spray chain lube on the swing points

You're welcome. Let us know if that was the issue ( fuse).

No joy

Found the BCC just fine thanks, checked both fuses - motor and switch were fine.
Back to the Kwikee troubleshooting page I guess

A common cause is the chassis ground . Try removing and cleaning the connection.

Do the steps work freely? unhook linkage and make sure steps go in and out freely ,easy. The motor shuts off due to resistance no limit switch the motor stops when it has too much resistance. Unhook linkage at the big arm and work steps in and out. After winter storage they may be stiff.

If they went out with a groan, that means they were getting power. I would lube them up really well. Maybe unhook the linkage and work back and forth until they move easily. Then hook the linkage back up and try them out. It doesn't take much corrosion and resistance to keep them from working.

thanks all

Ya they did swing but seems odd they just quit and wont even try. Ill get back under and look for the release pin to swing them out and then check that chassis ground. There's gotta be a way to spray that area before storage - all that road grime has to take a toll

Going down the road with no steps.
Anyone have good RV Tech contacts in Great Falls MT, Helena MT, Missoula MT, Spokane WA, Tri-cities WA, Portland OR.
Mobile Tech'd be best I'd say.

Burnt motor

Got a diagnosis from local Mobile Tech in Post Falls Idaho, dead motor - days to order one so going down the road and having the new motor $89 shipped ahead

Thanks for the update. It's pretty easy to change it. I even did it once
