2011 Discovery 40X

Looking at this unit, any pros con's? Is the 380 h.p. engine adequate? It is on a Freightliner chassis. I was just wondering about the craftsmanship and overall experience after the company's restructure. Thanks.

We have a 2012 Discovery 36J with the Cummins 380 hp engine. Just came back over Wolf Creek Pass, towing our 5000 pound Acadia SUV. No problems at all, and that's at about 10,000+ feet elevation. A great engine/transmission (Allison 3000MH) combination.

I'd be surprised if you would face anything more difficult than that. We've only had our coach since January, but it's been wonderful. Every manufacturer will have issues, but there's been nothing that our dealer and Fleetwood hasn't taken on to correct.

Good luck with your search!

My favorite layout, the front kitchen is great. The 380 Hp Cummins should push it with ease. Good luck

I believe the 40x was their most popular floor plan at least it was when I bought our rev. You should be very happy with it.

As a point of reference, my 300hp/950tq coach weights 27,000lbs and it honks along pretty good even through the hills, etc. Holds about 48mph comfortably on a protracted 6% grade...
