2014 Fleetwood Jamboree Searcher house batteries

Just replaced the house batteries in my Class C 2014 Fleetwood Jamboree Searcher 25k. Reconnected the batteries just like the ones that came out of it and all AUX power dead. Finally got shore power working but step does not move and generator won't start. Turn Aux off on shore power and everting but the fridge, step, generator, and slide work. Aux on everything dead. Even with the engine running. Bought a charger and charged the batteries both connected and disconnected individually. Not working.

Any help would be appreciated.

If it worked before it should work again if everything is hooked correctly and shouldn’t have killed them that quick. If you installed new batteries they should have made everything work without charging. Triple check all connections make sure hots go to hot and neutrals to neutrals. Do you have a inline fuse (most are little square boxes) get a multi tester check voltage leaving your battery bank. Sometimes something simple like you have a battery turned around and hooked up backwards.

It’s usually a good idea to take a picture of the wiring on the batteries before taking the wires off. There is most likely a fuse or breaker between the batteries and coach. Sometimes a wire will fall down between the batteries.

house batteries swapped out

OK,
poles were reversed on the new batteries so after turning them around and reconnecting the cables almost everything is working except the step and the slide out. Fuses are good. Relays?

Slide should have a direct line to batteries look for a dropped wire. Look for a control panel for slide and check fuses on it.steps have a fuse underneath.

If you hooked them up backwards your lucky you didn’t do some bad damage. Most likely fuses.

Thumbs up Problem solved

The smart people who designed the dc system realized that polarity issues between the chassis battery and the house batteries may occur so the put a 150amp fuse between them which I managed to blow (it's out under the hood). Once that was replaced, everything is working fine.

When purchasing 12v batteries...this can happen...and now you can see that matching the battery type and orientation is important. Luckily you were able to have enough cable to reach the reversed orientation. And that you didn't blow anything except the large fuse.
