2016 Bounder Transmissions

From everything I read, all of the 2016 30th Anniversary Bounders have 6-speed transmissions and SOME of the non-anniversary units have the 6-speed (true?). I have seen almost zero 30th anniversary models for sale.

I know how to identify, but my issue is tying to do this remotely. I have to laugh...every single dealer has given me one of two answers:
- “It has the 6-speed and the VIN is _________F______”
- “If has the 5-speed and the VIN is _________G______”

Not a single one has gotten it right!! Are they just guessing?!

Here is my thought, let me know how valid you think this is... If I can find a 2016 with 6-speed and a decent price, I’ll jump on it. But prices vary wildly (+\- $30k).

If it’s gonna be a 5-speed, I’ll save myself $20-30k and just get a pre-2016. It just seems like a big detriment to have a 2016 with the 2015 chassis.

Are there any other solid reasons to consider a 2016 with 5 speed (besides the obvious exterior design changes)?

For 2016, the floor of the cabin is 10" above the frame giving a pass-thru area.

The 30th Anniversary was a real value buy for the included options, that is why they are hard to find.

Depends on what you are looking for...I believe that 2016 also updated the electric control system to the illumiplex which some may see as a down side and some see as an upside...

Any questions you have about a 2016 Bounder will most likely be answered in this thread. It's a long read but well worth the time.
