Unhappy 2016 Storm

Don't know if any Fleetwood reps actually monitor this page but here goes anyway. We've had our Storm for 4 months and it has been in service 4 different times. Now it's in the service dept because our dash air went out in Florida. We had to cancel the last part of our Florida trip to bring the unit back home. We've only been able to take 2 trips with the unit in 4 months. It's almost to the point where I am sorry I bought this unit and did not buy from another manufacturer. Seems like they have some quality issues. However we have spoken to some very nice people at their customer service division. But when you are retired and want to travel and you are stuck at home in the heat when all you want to do is escape to the mountains it is very frustrating.

RV Industry QC is pretty lax by most peoples standards. Lots of parts by different companies being homogenized into something we hopefully will enjoy. Getting that mixing of components sorted out can be a challenge. One of the reasons we bought a second Fleetwood products is the availability of a factory service center within a reasonable distance. We knew before we bought it there would be issues hopefully small ones. The level of support at the service centers is almost beyond belief compared to our experience at dealer service departments. Just something I want to make you aware of, there are now 3 service centers and we have heard of a 4th in FL may be coming soon.
FWIW the dash AC probably would have a difficult time keeping the coach cool while on the road in the summer in FL. It is not uncommon for folks to run the generator and use the rooftop AC to help stay comfortable .

Would it be more feasible to have the dash air serviced by a Ford repair specialist. Figuring that the RV dealer is probably going to outsource this work anyway. Wondering if this may get you on the road quicker

That is what I did, the chassis is warrantied by Ford not Fleetwood.

I thought I read in another post the chassis A/C was not a Ford product but an aftermarket unit installed by FW?

I also agree with z3406. The dash AC will not cool enough to even be half way comfortable in the summer in FL. I live here. Anytime I use the RV in the summer I runt he generator and the rooftop AC unit (or units).
Once the initial problem are fixed you will enjoy your RV. Have to get over the hump first. It's a shame but it is a fact of the industry. If you can get to the service center and not a dealer you will be much much better off.

Thanks everyone

We called Ford first and was told it would be a Fleetwood problem that the chassis was warranted by Ford but not the blower fan.

The AC is covered by ford. I had mine changed under warranty locally. Also the mother board went out and the ford dealer replaced under warranty. Don't get discourage after all is fixed its a good coach. Hope it does not happen to you but there is a switch called FNR it went out and shut the engine off at 65 mph. Talk about pucker up. But again under warranty and fixed by a ford dealer.
