2018 solar panel on A/C

We just bought a 2018 35K and were told it has a solar panel on the A/C unit. Not sure how it works or how much power it can produce. Does anyone have experience with this? Do you have to turn it off or on? And how could we test it to be sure it works?

Thanks,
Pam

The little solar panel that comes from the factory w/ most RVs is to keep the rv battery charged while the rv is in storage, if it is not plugged in. And it works OK as long as there is no load on the battery. Outside of that it is worthless.

You don't turn it off or on. Basically you'll see a red light on the front a/c unit that supposedly indicates the solar panel is on. No value whatsoever IMO. (Of course, we store our RV in covered storage.)

Agreed. Pretty useless. Will not keep the battery charged as the Bounder has a large parasitic draw from miscellaneous electronics. If you want to disable it it is pretty simple. There is a fuse in the BCC which you can simply remove that. You can use a multimeter on that fuse to see if it is working.
