"Shed" or shedding is the process Firefly uses to determine if the new load you are requesting to use (turning on the AC compressor, turning on the block heater, turning on the electric floor heaters) is OK to turn on based on current power usage. Once it determines there is ample power available it will enable the item you have turned on.

An example: If you are connected to a 30A power pole and trying to run 3 air conditioners at the same time the Firefly will look at the total load available, 30 Amps, figure out how much power is required to run the ACs it will then cycle the AC compressors (shed) ON/Off to provide the requested cooling without tripping the 30 Amp breaker. It's a pretty smart system.
