2020 Disco 40M Excellent Performance on Long Trip

We are completing a 9,000 mile trip in our 2020 Discovery and wanted to give an update on the coach's performance. Our trip took us from Florida to Decatur Indiana, then to Durango, CO and finally to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan before heading back to FL. We hit a top elevation of 10,500' in Colorado in 30 degree weather and very heavy cross winds in the Dakotas. Through it all, the coach has performed great!

We had a few repair items on the new coach checklist that Fleetwood repaired at the Decatur service center (highly recommend), but since that visit in early May, there have been no more issues.

I tow a Buick Enclave and have averaged about 8.3 mpg running at 55 to 65 mph. I had no trouble in the mountains, but did find that manually downshifting to keep the revs up helped the engine brake performance in mountains.

We ran into some cold temperatures (down to 30 degrees) and the Aguahot and rear heat pump performed well. We also hit some very high temps, but the the A/C units had no trouble keeping us cool.

All in all, a great trip and the coach performed above my expectations. I have had prior coaches that seemed to be a kit project for me to work on while on the road, but this one is solid.

Awesome Coach!

What a great coach! We tried to get a 40M and kept running into problems. Units for sale are fairly rare and it took us awhile just to get into one to check it out. We actually finally got a deposit on one and the day we went to sign the paperwork the dealer called to tell us that they had just sold it to someone else! Fortunately the sales managers got together and worked with another location to secure us a 44LE which has essentially the same floor plan that we were looking for, with some extra space and a larger chassis. We took her home about a month ago and have been really happy with it. Good to hear that the 40M is running great for you!

Our first trip in our 2015 40E at 8500 miles, 11500 elevations, 8.8 mpg, pulling a 07 Accord also was good due to the Freightliner XC chassis. But many minor flaws found due to Fleetwood's QC lacking.
