2022 Fleetwood Frontier Aqua Hot placement issues

We have had our 2022 Frontier 36SS for 8 months now. Had a few warranty issues that Fleetwood has resolved. This week while traveling to AZ for the winter we encountered a pretty bad rainstorm. After this the Aqua Hot failed to start and run and burned the fuse in the Illumaplex console.

Aqua Hot service found that water had been thrown up from the front tire into the vent in the Aqua Hot box since it sits less than two feet behind the tire on the bottom of the coach. Tech suggested a longer mud flap but even that won’t keep spray from going into the unit. The Aqua Hot has to have an open vent on the boiler burner box when running.

So I guess I’ll need to create a cover for travel that will need to be removed before using the aqua hot. Sending all the info to Fleetwood for warranty coverage so we’ll see what happens.

Anyone else have this issue? Seems like a bad design choice and poor location of the Aqua Hot. Given the potential for water intrusion.

Aqua hot makes a rubber tube that goes in that opening on the bottom if that where the water is entering. I would take this to any NIRVC for warranty or to your selling dealer. This should be corrected by Fleetwood.

So Fleetwood advises they made a change mid year to extend the left front mudflap to prevent water from entering the Aqua-Hot. Doesn’t seem like much of a fix given the location. I will be doing this but also adding a deflector on the leading edge of the aqua hot box flange. Here’s some photos of the area. $1300 to fix the shorted controls in the Aqua-hot. So we don’t want to do that again. We’ll see how reimbursements go in warranty.
