38P question

Merry Christmas to all. I'm researching our first RV purchase and I really like the Bounder 38P. But, I have a question about the entrance door. If the awning is out, does the door stay open? I'm assuming there is a screen door but maybe that is a bad assumption. I haven't been able to find out the answer from any of the pictures I've seen online. Any other issues you like or dislike about the 38P would be helpful too. Thanks!

We have a 07 Pace Arrow 38P. There is a screen on the door and the door can stay open with the awning open. We love the floor plan with lots of space in the living area. The only thing I dislike is the vacuum toilet. Good luck, I think you will be happy with it.

What don't you like about the vacum toilet? I'm not exactly sure what that is, but I expect it is like an airplane type toilet. Wouldn't that be helpful in removing waste? Thanks for your help - I'm trying to learn all I can.

I looked at the Pace Arrow 38P also. More than I can afford (unless I won the lottery last night and don't know it yet! :-) What is your CCC? thanks again

Yes the toilet is like that on a plane but is larger. It has a vacuum pump which sucks the waste and seems like it is grounded up in the process. I'm afraid of the future problems I'll have with the vacuum pump, a job I am not looking forward to. What is CCC?

CCC is Cargo Carrying Capacity. I had heard that the Bounder was able to carry more weight in cargo because some of the upgrades in the Pace Arrow weighed more (like corian countertops and larger refrig, etc.). I wasn't sure if you had calculated how much you could carry. We won't be fulltiming, so I don't expect it to be an issue for several years, but I was curious.

I would expect a vacuum toilet to have more issues than a regular one. Is it standard with the Pace Arrow or an option?

Vacuum toilets are necessary for floor plans that don't allow for the black tank to be immediately below the commode. We like ours for the rear bathroom of the bath and a half floor plan. They are more expensive and do have the potential for failure but 1) We have a floor plan that we like, and 2) when we flush you are not looking into a dark hole, and 3) they are easy to use and with the push of a button, woosh and it has flushed. Luv it!

We have had our 38P Bounder since June 1, 2007 and just love it. We don't have the U-Shape dinette but regular dinette. Only thing I really wish we had. Otherwise it is fabulous. There have been few minor items but nothing that couldn't be corrected. It is at the dealer which is quite a distance from us and we left it there in the fall to winterize and go over my list of things that I wanted done before warranty and to add a few toys as well, like central vac. Lots of storage space even with the combo washer dryer. We travel with no less than 6 people at any time towing a suburban and it has performed wonderfully. With everything that is out there this is one of the best floorplans that anyone has made. You could have a dance in the livingroom and not bump into anyone. Would not trade it for anything.
