40E Full Wall Slide Rear Lock Pin

Appears my screw motor locking mechanism broke at the mount, any ideas? This looks like the whole mechanism needs to come out and expensive I suppose?

Can you see it to post pictures? I'd be interested to see if it's similar to mine in case it goes.

How did you know it had broken? I can see the front one latch, but the one in the rear is more or less hidden.

Knew there was a problem when the slide would not go out. Tried reset, no joy. Saw front lock was working, went to back, opened closet and that is how I found it. 4 bolts but the upper outside one is going to be a .....PITA. Now have to see if FW will honor it or....$
Plastic, what dummy thought of that should be steel.

I honestly gotta wonder if they are necessary or if they are installed for a "liability" reason, other slides don't have room locks.

By the way, did you find any threads on repairing it? Here's one I found with some info
http://www.irv2.com/forums/f107/disc...ed-272405.html
I googled "fleetwood full wall slide lock repair". I can never find anything using the forum search.

My slide lock came loose in the front. Mechanism was not secured well to the outside wall. Used carriage bolts thru wall.

How did you try to reset? If you are talking about the 2 red buttons on control board those are set buttons for the slide to stop.

Jondrew: This is the link, if you Google it comes right up, IRV search doesn't work so well.

Brian, Now you have me also thinking about this. Everytime I stand and watch the lock comes on, I cringe a little bit and was never when the same thing might happen. Do you think if the jack screw is more lubricated, it would have kept this from happening? I'm also wondering about your comment on the whether the lock is needed. Guess I should take off the covers and inspect the part, before it breaks. I'll be curious to see how everything comes out for you and would appreciate any advise.

Will let everybody know...

IMHO, grease has nothing to do with it. Either there is a structural flaw in the plastic mount that breaks OR the motor with the high torque setting causes stress on the mounting piece that over time, causes a failure OR a mis-adjustment of the slide or the locking pin that when it comes in contact with the frame wall the motor over torques and causes failure of the plastic mount.

I have emailed FW to see what they say and contacted my dealer (who said completely unacceptable-should never break) and the Sales Manager is also contacting FW for explanation.
