'99 Bounder Z39 Need Help with Wipers and New to this Forum
Hi. I'm Amy. We are on our first cross-country RV trip. Naturally we have had a few hiccups, but overall nothing alarming. I think we've figured things out well enough. THAT SAID, I now cannot for the life of me figure out how to make our windshield wipers work -- seriously. So I joined this forum so that I can ask and hopefully learn. I *imagine* this is a ridiculous question, and I *hope* that there's an easy answer!! Ciao and thanks for this forum, in advance.
Amy

Hi Amy! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!
We'll need to know the make and model of your RV to be able to help with that. It would be good if you create a signature that shows what RV you have to make it easier for folks to answer your questions. Just go to the User CP in the narrow dark green bar at the top to create your signature.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

make and model
Hi.
Thanks for chiming in. We have a 1999 Bounder z39.
The problem is that I can't figure out how to turn the windshield wipers on!! It seems like such a silly problem. When I push the center button, it does "wash" the windshield, but I can't get it to keep the wipers going (as I would need if it were raining).

On mine the center button you push for the wash, you also turn it for the wipers.

If you don't have one go to this site and download a copy of your owner's manual.

On my 1998 Bounder the wipers turn on by twisting the turn signal knob. I suspect yours do the same. I had trouble with mine working intermittently. Usually when they quit I could go outside and give them a gentle push and they’d work for awhile. Until they quit permanently in tremendous downpour, late at night.
I removed the wiper motor assembly and cleaned out some of the solidified grease in the gear assembly, inserted new grease and reinstalled. Still didn’t work.
I discovered the wiper grounding was the problem. I ran a NEW ground wire from the wiper assembly to a good ground and they’ve worked 100% ever since.
So, were I you I’d twist the knob, run a new wire from the motor assembly to a good ground and see if they don’t work. If that isn’t the problem, check for voltage and trace back. Could be a fuse. Could be the turn signal/wiper switch is bad, could a bad connection somewhere. But I suspect the ground is the problem.
If ultimately you need a wiper motor, they are getting scarce, but I found one on Amazon. Seems like it was about $100. Don’t order one until you are absolutely sure your voltage and ground to the assembly are correct and you are 100% sure the motor assembly is defective.

figuring out how to post pictures....
Thanks everyone. The wipers DO wash -- if I push the center button in they will give two or three swishes as if to clean the windows.
I will try to figure out how to post pictures. Give me a momentino and I'll try to post them very soon. Yes, maybe that will help you help me!!
The wiper control on this model is to the far left of the driver's console, directly under the headlights control. It's a round knob with a ring set back. The ring is supposed to control the speed of the intermittent wiping, I believe.
I did get a hold of the owner's manual, but I didn't see anything about the wiper controls (apparently this is supposed to be intuitive?) though I did find instructions about how to change the wiper blades.

Here's what the wiper control looks like:
Can you see what it looks like now?
Thanks again, in advance....

The inner knob that you are pushing for wash...is the same knob you turn to turn on wipers. The outer ring will set the delay time in the interval mode...first click on the knob.
