ABS Light

On my 2004 Fleetwood Bounder the ABS light will not turn off. I have had two different places check it out and they both say the system is functioning properly but the light just won't turn off. I'm not comfortable driving with my ABS light on.

I have the same problem on my 2006 Holiday Rambler Neptune. Had my coach at home doing spring cleaning and took it back to storage. A week later went to go out of town and the ABS light came on when I started the unit. Itís now in the shop to get fixed.

Is this a Ford F53? If so, if it has a anti-skid sensor on top of the differential, replace it..

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

First, stop worrying. Loss of ABS function is a concern only if you skid (lose rear wheel traction). Everything else in the brake system is unaffected.

Second, you need a more competent brake shop. The light isn't just on - the ABS computer has detected a fault. It can display a code to tell what it is, but a knowledgeable ABS tech ought to be able to scope it out anyway. Wheel speed sensors and wiring is the #1 suspect. And the anti-skid sensor.

Many cheap OBDII code readers only pull codes from the engine module. You need a code reader/scan tool that can access the ABS module.

Do some research, some of the older coaches have the ability to read the codes on the ABS system. Some have a button on the dash, others like mine have a module with test button.

If you can read the codes you may be able to fix.
