AC with Heat Pump Question

I purchased my Fleetwood Jamboree last year and it has an AC with Heat Pump. I thought I remembered last year in the fall that when I turned the thermostat to electric heat, that the roof AC/Heat Pump would turn on and blow from the roof vents. This year I turn my thermostat to electric heat and my furnace turns on and heat blows from the floor. I know nothing of these units regarding how they are supposed to function. Any inputs would be appreciated.

My thermostat has a selection between gas/electric heat. Maybe switch did not select properly? Also there is a control portion of the thermostat that will only allow heat pump to work under a certain ambient temp. If temp is too low, gas is selected automatically. Efficiency controls?

Your coach should have come with a manual for the thermostat. If not, you might be able to find one on line.

I am new here and first time RV owner. Have a 2005 Pace Arrow with dual roof AC and Furnaces. Have contacted Fleetwood and by the build info this unit has the Heat Pump option. The digital Thermostat has the dual zone heat and AC settings. It has a Cool/Off/Heat selector switch on the front. When the switch is moved to heat the only option is Gas Heat? Am I missing something? How do you get the Heat Pump to reverse and work? I have the binder with all the manuals and none of them tell you anything on how to activate the AC unit Heat Pump. If there is anyone that is familiar with the Coleman Heat Pump and how it is controlled I would appreciate your assistance.

On our unit, when calling for electric heat (heat pump) the thermostat must be set less than 3 degrees above the current inside temperature. If you set the thermostat higher than that, the gas furnace will fire up, but after that first cycle the heat pump will take over....unless the outside temp is below 38 degrees then the heat pump will run until the furnace kicks in.
