Add second cable from roof sat dish

My 2007 southwind 35A has a roof mounted dome satellite dish. It has a single cable input from the dish. I would like to add a second cable from the dish to the receiver. The original cable is run through a slot in the roof. It doesn't appear that a second cable could be run through the same slot in the roof. Does anyone have experience with this issue or have a recommendation?

Cutting a hole in the roof of my coach was really scary but it worked out OK.

I needed to run a coax through the roof from a cell antenna I mounted on top of my bat wing. I used a low profile, exterior electrical junction box. After drilling a hole large enough to accommodate not only the coax but future requirements as well... I used self tapping screws to mount it to the roof... in a thick bed of Dicor sealant.

I haven't needed to use it for anything else yet... but if I do I'll have a way to pass cables through.

Best of luck.

Rick

Why would you not use a "splitter" after the cable enters the coach?

X2 no need to cut a hole in your roof if you don't have to.

I think he needs the second cable to be able to record one channel while watching a second channel.

A splitter will not work on DirecTV receivers.
If using two different receivers then one cable can feed them both with a 2-way switch. But not both can be used the same time.

If OP wants to use a DTV DVR receiver with both turners in it. Then 2 cables are needed. Unless he changes the dish to a SWM dish, then one cable would work for both tuners.

Yes, if you want to be able to watch (or record) different stations on each receiver, you can't just use a splitter and need 2 lines going to the dish (the dish itself has to support it as well but I suspect anything newer than 10 yrs old will).

Before you break out the drill.. GOOGLE your antenna or read the specifications portion of the owner's manual and see if it is a SINGLE lnb or a DUAL (NOTE: DUAL does not mean twin lenses it means two outputs) Many domes are singles and will not accept a 2nd cable even if there is a 2nd connector up there.

Same is true of some dish type antennas.

In some cases the single line can be "Split" by the way. (This would be a DISH 300 LNB)

I have a Winegard Roadtrip in motion and only have one cable from dish. So I put a splitter in front and used the cable already there to back tv in bedroom. The only problem with this set-up is you can only use one tv at a time.
