American Allegiance vs. Tradition

I'm looking at a 2009 American Allegiance 42g MRSP $358,862 vs. a 2009 American Tradition 42P MSRP $422,072 and I am confused about the difference.

The floor plans seem exactly the same, the only difference that I see (besides a $63K price jump) is 400 HP vs. 425 HP. What else am I missing that the Tradition offers that is better than the Allegiance?

Also, given the fact that the Allegiance was only made for two years, does anyone see that as a downside for resale value?

You'll have to really study the specs (brochures) to find the small differences between the two. Ask for a "build sheet" for each. It will list the standard features, on the left side of the page, and the options, on the right side.

Off the top of my head, here are some things I can think of that are standard on the Tradition, but options on the Allegiance:

- Aqua Hot.
- Power cord reel for the power cord.
- GPS.
- Side cameras.
- Tile floor.
- Auto Generator Start (AGS).

There are probably more. If the Allegiance is loaded, it will have most of the above...mine has all but the power cord reel.

I don't see a down side for resale...it's still an American Coach.

Send me a PM if you have questions, we've had our for 2 1/2 years.

I have the Tradition 42P and happy with the floorplan. Can't say for sure all of the differences but heated floors, power dual shades, 10k gen and res fridge are things i would want that are Tradition level plus mulit plex wiring.

There are several small difference's between the two. Multiplex wiring has been mentioned and I fully agree with this. Look at fluid capacities, suspension, drivetrain and so on. There are more than what is different at first glance, hence the price. Solar panel, heat pumps, and so on.

What catches my attention are the list prices. Those have to be near the original sticker/MSRP. Just for comparision, price out a new Revolution (the Allegence replacement) and Tradition, which you can do on the American Coach web site. More, yes, but not all that much, and we're talking 4 years newer, with a warranty.

Just to add more to your dilemma, I noticed that I got an email from American Coach about their spring rally (April 29 - May 4) in Montgomery, TX where they'd be showing "
See the All New 2014
American Coach line-up!
There are some exciting new changes for the 2014 line-up debuting in Montgomery and you will not want to miss them. "

-- update

Oops, just noticed you were asking about used coaches. Lineup changes are probably interesting for curiosity's sake but don't affect your decision.

We are headed there, too. Told the D/W about the 2014s and said..."don't forget the check book." She said, "you have purchased your last toy!"

P.S. Whomever's going, take pics & post 'em here. I posted a bunch during the 2012 rally in IN. Loved going in & out of all the new coaches.
