American Coach - American Eagle 2004
We are looking at a 2004 American Eagle - 42 R.
It has a 500 Cummins and a 10,000 KW genny - that's what we want.
But, it looks weird! The front of the coach has a rise to it and then drops down - sort of looks like the front of a 747 jet liner with that "hump" in the front. None of the newer models has that.
Does anyone know what it is for?

That's not a 2004 - the hump is on the 2003 models. They made them that way to accommodate a large tv in the front ceiling, but many customers didn't like the look and it was changed for the 2004 model year.
Take a look at the brochures for each year - they are available in the American Coach Brochure Archive: American Coach Brochure Library

Gary, no disrespect intended, but the hump is still there in the brochures up to 2008 when they added the Girard Awning package on the PS as standard equipment with a matching trim on the DS.
Just for Fun: You can post a photo when in the replying to the add there are functions in the reply window on the upper tool bar just to the right of the print/fonts sizes in the middle; a paper clip which when clicked opens a window to choose a file from your computer, or if there is a link to a *.jpg photo on the www then there are two ways: one with the blue icon under the emicon icon, and the second with the picture icon. These require you to add the url of the photo you want to add. Hope that's as clear as mud and helps.

Looks like an attempt at streamlining the air to clear the roof fixtures. A/C'S Satellite dish etc.
It is different !

I have noticed the hump on those rigs, but always just thought of it as differentiating and not necessarily ugly. My $0.02

Bottom line.... If it doesn't feel good walking up to the coach now it probably never will.

I like the hump look, like the upside down mirrors...looks sleek and cool. Eagle is a great coach.
