American Coach: American Eagle 2022 Step Cover

Had a couple of times where the step cover would not retract. Thought it was just a glitch until our latest trip.

The cover would not retract, even by pulling the manual release. After many attemps, ended up calling a mobile mechanic. After removing the motor and track, ended up having to cut two bolts to be able at least partially retracting the cover.

Turns out the slides are completely locked up, probably multiplle bearings missing.

Bottom line is if your step slide is being tempremental, check the slides before you end up getting stuck.

FYI, this may not be part of your issue, but you should lube the steps, top and underneath, monthly.
