I had to climb through a window, remove the latch assembly to get the door open. Fortunately, I had a square bit that fit the screws holding the latch on.

What nut are you referring to , can you be more specific

If you open the door and look at the edge of the door, there is a latch that engages the bolt on the door jamb, just below it there is a nut/bolt recessed inside the door. You'll need a nut driver or small socket wrench to access it. This adjusts the latch mechanism in the door. I'm not sure how to explain this but adjusting it will make the door looser or tighter against the motor home. I found that if you turn it full clockwise and close the door, you can't open the door.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Paul, that's what I thought you were referring to. I recently tightened mine up a little as I was told that if it's too loose the door might not open. I had a 7/16" nut driver ,but it only reached so far so I guess I was lucky not to tighten it all the way. I wonder who is the mfg. of these locks. Do you know?

I found out the lock is a trimark, however I don't think this bolt adjustment thingie is part of the lock

I would think it is if it adjusts the latch, but I can't be sure. When I loosened the screws to get the door open, I didn't remove the whole mechanism, as soon as the door opened, I re-adjusted the nut and put it all back together, never to be touched again
