Any Gasoline Bounder Owners Towing a Jeep?
We are considering a 2012 Jeep Wrangler as a toad, so I'm doing all my homework right now. Looks like the Jeep will weigh close to 4,000 pounds. We will likely choose the Blue Ox towing setup. Anyone with a gasoline Bounder towing something similar?
I have lots of toad-specific questions, but I'll put them over on the Towing section.

I suspect your Bounder is on a Ford chassis. Our neighbors here at the park we're in have an 2011 35E on the Ford chassis and are towing a 2011 Wrangler. In talking to them they really like the Bounder as we did when we had ours and they give a big thumbs up on the Jeep.

Yep, we're on the Ford V10 chassis and so far we are loving the Bounder. We also love the Jeep and have not heard any negatives, so it appears we will pursue the purchase. Thanks.

I have a '04 32W and I tow a '07 Rubicon Unlimited that's set up for off roading. So its right at the max towing weight.
Was there some particular info you wanted or needed?

I am interested in how the Bounder manages with the weight of the toad. Your Unlimited is heavier than the Safari that we are considering, so hopefully we won't have any problems. Which towing setup are you using? (Base plate, tow bar, etc.) I guess I wanted to hear that this is not a bad decision on our part...haha.

I imagine you and I are close with having the same set up (except I have a Workhorse) I made one 3K trip the end of last season pulling a 08 Lincoln MKX which is heavier than your Jeep if I remember correctly at 4500lbs. No problems and no regrets.
Mine is a W24 chassis rated at 32K GVW which was a little important as I did not get finished wiring up my braking system before I left

We have a 2012 Bounder 34B and tow a CRV with no problems. We use a Blue Ox base plate with the invisbrake. No problems to date.

You will have no problems sticking to your 4500 lb limit. That's a powerful platform we have. I tow 3200 lb HHR and have to check the rear camera frequently to see if it's still there. My mileage doesn't even change when I'm not towing. I use a Blue Ox and an SMI Stay n Play duo supplemental braking sys.

SarahW...here's another thing to think about. This has been mentioned before, but here it is again.
The actual tow capacity of any vehicle is its GCWR minus the weight of the tow vehicle (its self) or the hitch capacity, whichever is less.

Have been towing a Jeep Liberty behind my 2004 Bounder 35E with Workhorse chassis, since January 2004 (currently tow a 2009 Jeep Liberty). It has worked just great for 54,000 miles.......Jim

Thanks, Cat. The hitch capacity is 5,000 pounds, so I'm more concerned with the weight of the toad.

I believe the towing capacity is 4500 lbs with a 5000 lb hitch. Something to do with 500 lb tounge.
