Anyone upgrade their side/rear cameras?

The black & white rear camera and front monitor in our 2012 Bounder 33C is marginal at best. I'd really like to replace that system with a higher quality, color one. Wondering if anyone has done this and if so can you use the existing wiring?

Don't really use the side cameras much but ideally I'd like an "always on" camera on the passenger side-- not just one that comes on with the turn signal. Obviously that would require a monitor with multiple inputs.

Searches come up with zillions of "suggestions" but hopefully someone with direct experience can provide some input!

I Upgraded my 2006 Charleston system to a Rearview Safety system and so far so good. You can choose to have either of the side cameras on constantly or triggered with the turn signal but the rear camera takes priority when in reverse. I had to replace the existing wiring on my unit but can't speak to your wiring, you might want to check with their customer service, they may have adapters to connect to you existing wiring. Good luck, hope this helps some.

Take a look at this link for switching video input using a relay. This should solve the issue for you. Most cameras are a composite signal and can be switched. The short distance of the signal should not be a problem. Hope this helps

Take care

Ronnie,

When you say you had to replace wiring, was that just at the camera end or did you have to run new wire entirely? Does the display show 2 always on inputs at the same time-- rear & side cameras for example?

Appreciate the input.

Not sure what that would do for me as what I want to do is to replace the current system entirely. (?)

[QUOTE=tymzee;5535770]Ronnie,

I replaced the wiring from the front to the back. I wanted to start fresh with everything new. They did offer a splice kit to adapt my wiring but I was concerned about splices. Rear View Safety does offer a split view monitor, where you can monitor multiple cameras at the same time, but I chose the single view 7 inch monitor. I thought the 7 inch monitor was too small for multiple screens and didn't have room for the larger monitor. I find this setup works fine for me, I can leave the left side view on while driving and it automatically switches to the rear when I shift into reverse. When I'm towing, I can switch the rear camera on too monitor the toad and it will switch to the side when I turn on the signals. Hope this helps.
