Anyone having baggage door latch breaking. I have a fleetwood discovery and have had to replace almost all of them . Is there any metal replacement available? The plastic do not seem to hold up

Join the Discovery Owner's Association at https://www.discoveryowners.com/ One of our members has designed and sells replacement metal latches. If you own a Discovery, this is the group to belong to, large knowledge resource about Discoveries and good people to camp with.

I've replaced several but found out that slamming them down to close will lead to failure! I now did close them by lowering till door just rests on latch and then secure by pushing in with my knee. Did you lube the latches before they broke? They do not last forever but treating them gently prolongs their life span.

As already noted, it's all about technique. ie Lower door, lift latch handle, close door, release latch handle, push shut with knee.
The latches on my 95 Bounder are all OEM. Is 24 years "forever"?

I have replaced all but two with latches made by RB Machining/RV Div. www.motorhomelatches.com. Or call 661-274-1966. The more you buy in an order the cheaper they are per latch. I first bought one to try and then ordered enough to replace all the rest. Last year on a trip, I had two break. The doors popped up on interstate. Pulled off and replaced. Took about 20 minutes. I have a 2006 Fleetwood Expedition.

Bought 2 spares on Ebay. But never used. I don't slam and grease the latch and catch often.
