Battery Isolator Relay Delay vs. Battery Isolator Controller

Hello,

Can anyone give me a simple explanation of BIRD vs. BIC?

Is one a newer consideration of the other?

My 89 Flair came with an older version of the Battery Isolator Controller from Intellitec. Do I stay with that or change out to a Battery Isolator Relay Delay?

Thank you.

You would gain nothing with the delay relay. Your isolator relay closes when you engine starts or when you push the emergency start button.
If you want to charge the engine battery when on shore power, there is a relay the will close when either battery bank reaches a certain voltage.
