Battery size

I need to replace the 12 volt battery in my 2003 Bounder which I bought 3 weeks ago. I can't find any reference to the size or group of battery required. The one in place now is incorrect, as it is quite a bit smaller than the base battery holder.
I'm replacing the two 6-volt deep cycle batteries with new golf cart batteries from Les Schwab. I used the same batteries in my fifth wheel and they were excellent.

Bruce...Your Bounder has a chassis type.... you would usually match up the battery if you want to that factor. In my case for example I have a P30 Chevy chassis. If I want to buy an engine start battery I would shop using that criteria. Do you know what chassis you have...perhaps a Workhorse chassis with a Ford engine?

I believe you mis-spoke. Workhorse never used a Ford engine.

Measure the battery tray: Width, Depth and Height

(How high can the battery be)

Go to a battery web site such as Interstate or US battery and find the specifications for 12 volt batteries.

now on that page is LWH figures L is the battery length (Width of tray) W is the battery Width (Depth of tray) and H is the height.

Find the largest battery that will fit, (You may wish to leave a quarter inch around the thing (IE if Tray is 12" long 11 3/4 is the battery size).

And that's your battery.. NOTE: if the battery winds up being a bit bigger than the OEM.. not a bad thing.

Battery solution found

Thanks to all of you for your helpful replies. I did fine the appropriate battery, or should I say batteries!
The coach is a Workhorse W22, and the batteries are Group 78 with side terminals.

Yup, that is what workhorse put into the W-22.. How do I know this? Well... I'm sitting on top of a W-22.

Oh, one other thing.. I do not know about your coach but on mine they used the wrong metal on the llugs on the POSITIVE terminal. Result is lots of cleaning needed.

Next time I do it (Every few years so far) I'm going to make some modifications.
