Bird wiring

The chassis charging isn't working. I understand I can wire in a Intellitec BIRD. Anyone done this that has the wiring diagram of how this can be done.

If you go to the " Files " drop box , in the blue bar below your welcome message, and then to " Electrical " there is some info on BIRD system there, don't know if there are diagrams or wiring schematics though.

Did your coach used to charge the chassis battery on shore power and it's quit doing so ? Wouldn't it be easier to fix the existing system than to attempt a complete change?

Here is the diagram of your BCC board.

The connections to an Intellitec BIRD
zre very simple.

If you do NOT have a dash fan connected to P-12 (lower right corner of photo), put a fuse in that location and attach P-12 to the Ignition terminal on the BIRD. If necessary, choose another pin powered by the Ignition signal/relay.

Connect P-7 (lower center of photo) to the Coach Battery terminal of the BIRD.

Attach the Relay Coil terminal of the BIRD to the yellow wire on the interconnect/isolator solenoid/relay.

Attach the Ground terminal of the BIRD to Ground.

DO NOT remove any existing wires from the solenoid or board if you want your aux start switch to continue to function.

I've had to do this on my Bounder, and it works fine. Let me know if I can be of further help.

Thanks

Is P-7 the top connector on the Isolator Relay. All the other connections look straight forward. Thanks for all the help.

I just went out to check on mine and see that I actually used P-16, (upper right on the diagram) because I don't have a power awning. I had to put a fuse in F28 to make it work.

I meant to say that I hooked the Coach Battery terminal of the BIRD to P-16 rather than P-7. This should be labeled on the board. On my board it is top center.

I had an abundance of five amp fuses, so that's what I used. They have held up so far. They don't have to carry any of the actual charge current, just enough current to pick the solenoid. Three amp probably would have been plenty.

Again, good luck and glad to help, as always. lou
