Black water tank vacuum pump

I have a 2014 Fleetwood Bounder 35K. It has the bath and 1/2. There is a vacuum pump that should be turned on to get the stools to function correctly. This comes on about every 30 min or so. During the day it is not a problem. At night it is a problem. I have been turning it off at night.
If the black water tank is vented how does this work? Does anyone know what it does?

I assume you have the Dometic SeaLand VacuFlush? If it is cycling that often, you possibly have a small vacuum leak someplace. It is not pulling a vacuum on the black tank itself. Your system has a small 2 or 3 gallon pressure tank connected to the motor and bellows. The bellows pull a vacuum on the small pressure tank which in turn pulls the toilet contents into it and eventually discharge them into the black tank.

First, check to make sure your bowl seals are really clean. Do you notice any loss of water in the bowl? Since you are likely still under warranty, I would take the RV to the dealer and let them service the toilets.

ETA--I will also add to make sure you are "operating" the toilets according to the manual. Be sure to press the foot pedal down for three seconds with each flush, and then let the pedal "snap" back into place. For a long time we were careful with releasing the pedal, which apparently isn't the correct operation. The "snap" helps reseal the bowl seal or something.

Most likely you have a bit of paper stuck in the seal. Like sarah said, make sure the seal area is clean and hopefully your problem will go away.

Dealer indicated that the tank was long and not very deep. he said in order to get an accurate reading the coach needs to be level. I am use to a tank that is closer to square so that leveling is not that important. I use the on board auto level button. I don't usually check. It feels level.

I'm not sure what that has to do with your original post about the pump running...?? The pump runs to reset the vacuum, so what "accurate reading" is the dealer referring to? The tank level monitor?

The VacuFlush can be a little quirky until you get used to it.
