Blue Streak Chemical mystery solved.

Blue Streak chemical dispenser mystery solved.

I installed 2 Blue Steak dispensers in our two RV bathrooms. The guest toilet is a standard domestic toilet. The master bath toilet is a Tecma Silencer Plus Macerating toilet.

The blue streak system works great. Smells great and very pleased with how easy it was to set up.

On our last trip this past weekend, once at the park and fresh water tank filled and pump turned on, the water out of the taps was the same color blue and as bright as the blue streak chemical. Well, no hot water that weekend as the water heater tank was full of the product and foaming tip nicely when run through the taps. The cold water cleared up fine with a few minutes of flushing.

Once home this Monday I called the manufacturer in Mason Michigan and talked to the inventor and president of the company. He was awesome and so helpful. He said it was not common for this to happen in a Tecma toilet but he has heard of it happening in the past where the water system, not under pressure, and if the solenoid valve in the Tecma is not operating perfect, will suck the chemical into the hot water tank or the drinking water lines.

NOT THE FRESH WATER TANK! Our fresh water tank was fine. A stop to the hardware store for a 1/2"check valve in the supply line of the toilet and in front of the solenoid valve solved this. It was so happy to talk to the folks at Blue Streak as they were on top of this and had the suggested fix in 5 minutes of taking. I endorse them entirely.

Sounds like Blue Streak should ADD a check valve in its Kit so cross contamination is prevented

Im not hinting at that or even think that would be an option as there are so many different configurations. Their kit is a one size fits all and it was complete in order to do that. I did have a pre existing issue with my Tecma Macerating toliet losing water in the bowl. It was a weak or leaking solenoid valve on the toilet. It was not closing completely allowing bowl water to leak down to below the outlet and we were getting some odor. Also going through a lot of water and the indicator light was coming on telling us a almost full black tank was approaching.

I changed the solenoid valve and problem solved. The problem was that when the system was not pressurized, the solenoid valve was allowing the chemical to be pulled from the bottle and putting it right in the hot water heater.

I also added a $18.00 check valve on the water supply line for both toilets as a safety measure and system is working great.

PLUS,,, the company founder, inventor and President called me to discuss the situation and help identify the problem. Of course a refund would have been offered if I felt it was needed but I really like the system.
