door handle
I had the same problem. Had to yank on the outside handle numerous times. Took the handle apart and found the cam that moves the linkage was loose on the shaft and not getting full throw. Found a Trimark 30-900 outside handle on ebay for $54. Solved that problem I have also replaced numerous baggage door handles also Trimark found on amazon or ebay.

The problem was a bent lever.
Once I got to the metal lever itself, I bent it back into its proper position and the lock operates fine (for now).
For others that might have this problem, they should see my Blog Post on how I fixed my problem, with several pictures.
Thanks again for the invaluable information.

Had the same issue. Took lock apart, nothing wrong except it was out of adjustment in regards to the door, not an internal adjustment to the lock.

When you did the repair, did you happen to take any step-by-step pictures? I'm having the same problem and not sure how to tackle the problem. -RT
