On our previous Bounder and current Discovery, towel over the lug cover to prevent nicking, water pump pliers and twist loose while pulling.

The "correct" tool for the job available at many RV and auto parts stores

On our 22.5 wheels, I just grabbed mine and pulled couldn't twist as they are 6? sided ?

but needed a spare when I first got it, so bought a couple @ Love's - like 95 cents each...

just push on and finish with a bump of your hand to seat them.

The "twist" is more like a "wiggle", to break the six-sided cover loose from the nut underneath. Sometimes they get firmly rusted or dirt-encrusted and can be extremely hard to break loose. Earlier this year I had to literally pry off several of mine to change tires.

That pretty tool isn't much help if the covers are even slightly frozen in place. They don't have much grip at all.

Ive never had a problem with that tool functioning properly but then again I use Alcoa plastic covers with spring metal sleeves inside not metal.

The lug nut covers on our 2013 bounder are part of the wheel cover. To remove the wheel cover you must use a socket wrench to remove two of the lug nut covers that are threaded to the wheel lugs. The threaded covers can be identified by slots stamped on their flats. The rest of the lug covers are attached to the wheel cover and are not to be removed.

Although I have a Flair, my simulators and covers also have the 2 slotted metal lug nuts that attach to the wheel lugs. I use a 1 1/8 socket, not sure if that tool would work, they can get pretty tight. Also, be careful taking off the rear dually simulators. The oval holes are smooth on the outside but sharp on the inside, use thick gloves to remove them if you are using that spot to pull them off (learned that one the hard way).

I have a 2013 Bounder also. I just noticed I lost one. Do you know who might have a replacement? Lost lug and cover.

Tapping on each lug nut will identify the threaded vs non-threaded by the differing sound. I use a large crescent wrench with a rag to prevent marring.
