Broken awning bracket

While installing my under awning LEDs I noticed my top awning bracket had a crack. I decided to remove it to see how bad it was and if fell apart in two pieces. Lucky for me I just bought a spool gun for my welder and was able to fix it. Welding aluminum sure is fun

I think the reason it broke is because when the awning is fully retracted it slightly twists the awning arm before motor shuts off. I think this eventually cracked the bracket. You might want to check your!

Was it the tilt arm?.......You said bracket, but check both ends of the tilt arm where the pivot pins are....

There is a rail that mounts to the side of the RV. There are brackets at the top and bottom of this rail that hold it to the RV. When the awning is stowed the arms are up against this rail. The broken bracket (see image) is at the top of that rail.

If you notice the curved area of the bracket, this is where it was cracked in half. The arm that extends out actually stows in that curved area. I think the problem is because the arm that extends actually twists when stowed due to the torque of the motor.

Maybe I had a bad bracket or maybe it was the stress. Either way I was able to weld it up to fix. I just wonder if anybody else has had this problem.
