I just installed the Dirt Devil Central Vac and bought a new head unit with a beater bar that operates on the suction (No electricity) This thing works great!!!

It's called a Turbo Cat and costs around $75.00

Thanks everyone! I installed a Dirt Devil and it works perfectly. My wife is so impressed with it that she now wants one in the house. That's kind of a "good news, bad news" thank you....

We ordered the "TurboCat Air Driven Brush for all Central Vacuums" for about $80 from Amazon. It works well. See it at Amazon.com: TurboCat Air Driven Brush for all Central Vacuums

I ordered a complete set of attachments online for mine...they came with a hose, attachments and a beater bar that's called a "Rug Rat". Cost me about $85.00 for the whole set.
